A Hoods A Hood

Autumn is probably my favourite time of year. Maybe Spring, likely Summer, but definitely not winter. So Autumn, or fall, or harvest time, just puts me into a really healthy and fresh zone. Nothing like putting on a really comfortable pair of jeans and one of my pick-of-the-day hoodies, and going for a nice stroll through one of the many beautiful countrysides in Ontario with my wife. For many years, i’ve been a ‘who’s the sucker now’ for buying another hoodie. Darn it if a great Philosopher didn’t once say, ‘you can only wear one at a time’.Hee, hee!

Now getting to this ‘nice stroll’ with a hoodie on, could be a little tricky, if your driving, with a hoodie on, or a jacket of some sort. Driving with a hoodie on can give you a serious blind spot while trying to look over the shoulder through the area closest to your side window. The puffier the hoodie, sweater or jacket is, the harder it is to see your blind spot. Be wise and beware.

Hoodies are also great to have a little warmth and putting the hoodie up over your head can sometimes keep the cooler winds away from our heads, faces and necks and keep that cup of coffee warm to our lips. Hoodies also come in different thicknesses, depending on what situation the day brings. For fall outdoor sports/training, then maybe a thinner hoodie would do the trick. See, thats why I tend to keep a few on the racks at home and there you have my perfect excuse.

Then there’s the ‘hood’, wearing a hoodie, often using it as a disguise to conceal their identity – usually up to no good, with a pair of sunglasses and when its dark. Totally not a brilliant idea walking into a bank with your hood up over your head.

On those iffy days, when your not quite sure about the weather and you want to make sure your going to be warm if the weather does not agree with your wishes, it’s so easy to tie your hoodie around your waist and then not having to be the shivering sensation when it starts raining snowballs and popsicles!

Well this is Canada, I already washed a few hoodies recently because we all know how this weather can change on a dime. My wife and I are still jetskiing and swimming outdoors, corn is coming up for sale on all corners, outdoor concerts are cozy, the outdoor professional and amateur sports teams are in full swing and rag tops are down on the sports cars. Halloween and Christmas items are already hitting the stores and my favourite country store is already selling hot apple cider. So we all know whats around the corner although, not quite yet. However, i’m prepared and if it doesn’t get any cooler sooner, then I guess i’ll just have to increase my cold beer intake with my Toronto Maple Leafs hoodie on.
