Many people pickup the newspaper in the morning, or read the news on the internet and are wowed by a Celebrities birthday that day. Un momento.
Take a look around you at your family and friends, especially the ones that you haven’t been in contact with for a while. If we were to track any of them on a given day, watching how they go to work, school, staying at home in retirement or maybe going through an illness, gee, it would be really nice to remember them, just to acknowledge that they are actually counted as being a special person in your life. It is a break in the regular routine of the hustle and bustle, to stop and say, ‘Im just letting you know that on a particular special day, you my friend, came into this world and your important to me’. I have always told my children from they were very young, that they didn’t need to buy me a gift, their words were good enough. I told them that I love cards and over the years, they all have been very special and meant so much. I guess this is where I put the wedge in and acknowledge that we all don’t know when each others birthday is and some don’t want us to know either. However, I think that the closer we are to each other, the more that information has been secretly divulged. Maybe our actual appearance on a special persons birthday could not be possible, for one good reason or another, but a card or a phone call I think could just make someones birthday. I’m totally not opposed to Facebook birthday greetings when notices appear, in fact I think that the birthday greetings are one of the nicest things that I like on Facebook. Nice move Zuck.
There are a few special people in my life that always phone me on my birthday. Those calls mean so much. In some form of communication, I try to reach out to special people in my life when I do know their birthdays, to wish them the best and remind them how important they are to me. So weather its Hallmark, or Carlton or the dollar store, or even the tiny tag birthday note cards on a bouquet of flowers, imagine how much it would make someones day.
So knowing all of this, its important to note that, every day of the year is always someone’s birthday. That’s why I always remember what my grandmother used to tell me when I was younger and that is that everyone in this world is always important. Even if it’s not your birthday, Happy Birthday, just for the heck of it.
